Description

This comprehensive range of recessed manhole covers and frames are for use in areas of block paving where it is desirable to have continuity of surface finish and pattern.

They are recessed 80mm for use with up to 60mm and 100mm for use with up to 80mm block pavior and galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461.

The table below lists the main standard sizes with non standard sizes available on request.

EN124 Class D loading Recessed for Block Paving

D400 Recessed Galvanised Steel Cover and Frame

Recessed access cover and frame designed to accommodate paving blocks, slabs or other approved infill materials. Classified D400 in accordance with BS EN 124, with a 400 kN test load.

FRAME

The frame is fabricated from structural-grade mild steel and designed to provide a stable, secure seating arrangement. An EPDM gasket between the cover and frame helps reduce movement and noise while improving resistance to water ingress.

The external frame profile provides secure anchorage within the surrounding concrete installation.

COVER

The fabricated steel cover incorporates a 100 mm deep recessed tray, suitable for receiving paving blocks, slabs or other approved infill materials to match the surrounding finished surface.

The cover features:

  • Secure seating within the frame.
  • EPDM gasket to help prevent rocking and noise.
  • Stainless-steel locking screws.
  • Blind lifting-key holes for safe opening.
  • Interchangeable cover sections where applicable.

LOAD CLASSIFICATION

Group 4 – Class D400 (BS EN 124).

Fabricated access covers must not be installed on highways or within the carriageway of any road. They are suitable for areas used by all types of road vehicles where speeds do not exceed 20 mph and traffic intensity is low. Typical applications include pedestrian streets, forecourts, hard shoulders, and parking areas.

The selection of the appropriate product, loading, size and security rating remains the responsibility of the Project Engineer.

MATERIAL

Fabricated from structural-grade mild steel plate, flats, channels and angles in accordance with BS EN 10025 Grade S275JR, or an equivalent approved grade.

FINISH

The cover and frame are hot-dip galvanised in accordance with BS EN ISO 1461, providing durable corrosion protection and extended service life.

Description

Recessed access cover and frame designed to accommodate paving blocks, slabs or other approved infill materials, allowing the completed installation to match the surrounding surface.

Construction

Fabricated from structural-grade mild steel plate, flats, channels and angles in accordance with BS EN 10025 Grade S275JR, or an equivalent approved grade.

Suitable for low-speed, low-traffic-intensity areas, subject to a maximum vehicle speed of 20 mph, including forecourts, parking areas and similar commercial or industrial applications.

Fabricated covers should not be installed on highways or within the carriageway of any road.

Finish

The cover and frame are hot-dip galvanised in accordance with BS EN ISO 1461, providing long-lasting corrosion protection.

Final product selection and confirmation of suitability remain the responsibility of the Project Engineer.
